Great scooter , until it’s not

I got it back in the summer of 2024 after trying a couple of rental ones—Lime, Bird, etc. After watching countless reviews and learning about different models, I finally decided to pull the trigger on this one. I wanted something that would last me a while, and the tech specs ticked all the boxes at the time.

I got the pneumatic tire version, though in hindsight, solid tires probably would have been a better choice—I doubt it would have made a drastic difference in ride quality. The scooter delivered on every promise it made and more. I used to fly up and down Sunset Blvd in Silver Lake. When fully charged, I could hit 35-37 mph on flats at 165-170 lbs.
Range? Pff. With a mix of dual-mode 3rd gear, mostly 2nd single, and 1st single when I hit that mark between 1 and 2 bars, I easily got 33-35 miles, sometimes even more (dead serious). I think on a few occasions, I might have been close to 40 miles, especially when just cruising around at night, prioritizing mileage.

Brakes are adequate, and don’t worry about the noise—that’s just how these brakes are. It’s by design.

That was the first few hundred miles or so. Then the squeaks, random clicks, and noises started developing. I figured the suspension needed some TLC, which I didn’t mind since I work on my cars and handle my own maintenance. At first, it needed dusting off and lubrication every week or two. I went through a few types of lubricants until I found the ones that worked best—still doing okay.

Then the fenders started cracking at the screw points, eventually barely hanging in there. But customer service was amazing—quick response and sent me a replacement for free.

Then lubrication and suspension maintenance started needing attention a bit more frequently, which was still okay with me. But around the 600-mile mark, I started noticing the first signs of range and power decrease. Nothing major, but it was one of those things where you just know something has changed.

A couple hundred miles later, I got my first flat—the rear tire went out. I tried to find replacement tires and tubes myself but had no luck. around that time my work picked up, so I no longer had time to ride my scooter. I put it away, discharging and storing it according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

A few months later, I finally had time and reached out to customer support. After some back-and-forth, they sent me a full set of two tires and two tubes at half the price. They also answered all my questions and sent video instructions for the repair. I had requested the full set because I wanted to change both front and rear tires.

Done that, and here I am, back on my scooter.

But this time around, the difference in power and range is significant. I’m concerned and disappointed. Now, I’m barely hitting 28-30 mph, and the range has dropped drastically. If I keep it in dual mode, 2nd or 3rd gear, I barely get 15-18 miles—and that’s not even full throttle all the time. Riding the same way I did in the summer now barely gets me 65-70% of the range I used to have.

I’ve now stopped using anything besides single mode 1st or 2nd gear just to get any reasonable mileage. And just a week ago, my battery started acting up, randomly dropping a bar or two. I’ll leave home fully charged, and boom—drops from 5 to 3 bars in 10 minutes. Or from 4 to 2. No clue what’s going on.

Even though customer support has been nothing but amazing, I didn’t bother contacting them this time because I don’t see how this can be fixed without me cashing out big bucks—which I’m not willing to do.

Oh, and those annoying squeaks and noises? Now they need maintenance every other day if I want a quiet ride. The fenders have started cracking again, and so has the hard plastic/rubber tube securing the folding mechanism.

Just passed 1,000 miles on the odometer, and I don’t know if that’s considered a lot for a scooter since this is my first one. But I wasn’t expecting all these issues this soon—especially not with the battery. I know batteries degrade over time, but this quickly? Really? Not sure if I got a faulty one or if this is just how it is.

Overall, I’m sadly about to retire my scooter. It now just gives me anxiety and uncertainty because I don’t know if it’ll randomly die on me one day while riding. I’ve read on Reddit that this has happened to people before.

So while it is a great discounted product, the quality seems to match the price. I spent good money hoping to get at least a couple of years out of it, but in reality, I only got about 3-4 months of actual use.

I was originally thinking about buying the T10 Pro after having so much fun with this one, but now I’m reconsidering. I don’t know if these quality issues run across their lineup.

I was about to give a lower rating, but customer support is simply amazing—regardless of the product itself. They’re always there—email, text, whatever. They won’t leave you stranded. And only because of that, I’m giving...

Incredible value for the performance and full suspension.

I did not know much about Hiley. I had heard of them, but most of the mainstream reviewers looks at brands like Segway, Kaabo, Nami, Dualtron or Go Trax. I did some research and found the perfect scooter for my needs, something under $900, that can at least hit 30 mph, dual motor and full front and rear suspension. That was my criteria, because I have a small car I needed a small platform and because I weigh 250lbs, I needed dual motor. Then I saw the Tiger T8 Pro. It had an upgraded display with a thumb throttle. If it was only available in the trigger throttle with the old style display, I would not get it. Not only was it available with the thumb throttle and a nice LCD display, but it has 8.5" pneumatic tires, for a more comfortable ride over bumps. There is not other scooter out there that uses an NFC key lock, goes 31mph, dual 600 watt motors, folding handlebars and stem, weighing 53lbs., full suspension, long range 15 amp hour battery using 48v platform, that you are going to find for under $900. Thank you Hiley for building an electric scooter with so many feature and outstanding performance all on a very portable platform for an amazing price!

This is a kick but scooter, very very very powerful indeed. It’s so fast and powerful, I’m almost afraid of it… lol !! I recommend getting this scooter if you like power and speed and can take on the bumpy roads. This is the best scooter from the rest of them in its class. The Hiley Tiger T8 Pro !!! Get one !!

Huge suprise in it's torque and takeoff speed.Would rate this 6 stars out of 5 if it were possible.

This scooter is priced at $1,300. 00 and up in other models with diffrent names. There's not a hill it won't climb. Excellent battery management also. As far as its range i get 22-24 miles using a mixture of eco and turbo modes and i weigh 200lbs, plus i carry a heavy backpack. Have gotten up to 29mph on flats with no bookbag on. Ive read about rear fenders breaking off and so far mine is fine. Although i think its due to the fact that i dont particularly ride off of high curbs or jump the scooter. So far its still intact. For those who are wondering this scooter has a ip 54 Dust/water resistant rating. I rode to work one night in pouring down rain with gusty wind and was drenched along with the scooter. I was worried about it damaging the scooter electric parts but it did not affect it at all. While this isnt water proof, i wouldn't submerge it in water, but you can ride in the rain. A little worthwhile change would be to go into the P-settings, hold both buttons down until p settings come on.then program the code 2626. then hold the top button down to enter p mode. Press till you come to number 7, then change it to the N-soft) mode. you will notice a huge power increase as it produces instantaneous, no lag response! You will be able to pop and ride wheelies on this beast if you like. After changing to N-soft mode Hold on tight as the takeoff power is like a 🚀. 5 stars out of 5. You wont be disappointed!!

Great over all, one flaw

My rear fender broke riding over the lip of my driveway. No crash. Simply riding over a bump broke the rear fender. Disappointed in this design and engineering failure.

We will send you one new rear fender for replacement.
